Today I have a tutorial for you on the DIY Jeweled Collar: The Grown-up's Guide to Bedazzling Your Clothes! Most of the Pinterest inspiration I've found involves the Peter-Pan collar, but those don't look great on me so I went with a standard collared Chambray shirt that I picked up at TJ Maxx for $15, instead.
You'll need the following:
Aleene's Jewel-It Fabric Glue
Small paint brush
*My rhinestones and pearls came from the bracelets shown - three to a pack, they were on sale at Michaels for $1.99, and could easily be cut from the strand connecting them. The benefit to doing it this way, if you can find bracelets, is that the pearls and rhinstones are set nicely into the gold fitting; the flat backing makes it easy to work with when it comes to gluing each piece down.
Experiment placing the rhinstones on your collar in different patterns until you find a design you love.
Use the Jewel-It glue to make a stripe on your collar, and, read carefully because this part is IMPORTANT: let the glue rest for 10 minutes before doing anything further!
Patience, young grasshopper. Don't rush. If you do, the stones won't set as well and will more likely fall off after washing your shirt.
After the glue has set, apply your stones, pushing each piece in enough for the glue to rise up around the sides.
Continue these steps until all of your pieces are on your collar. Use the small paintbrush to wipe away any excess glue in between rows.
Let it dry for at least 24 hours before wearing, and at least 7 days before washing.
And you're done!
